The surface is covered by 15 metre thick laterite. Under this is several BIF units up to 10 metres wide which host the gold. The BIF is tightly folded, steep plunging, north-east trending syncline, with two folding events, and refolding of the folds. The mineralisation is in cherty BIF flanked by two well developed fault breccia zones/shears which marks the end of the gold mineralisation.
The surface laterite contains gold drawn from the underlying gold rich BIF. There are higher grades in hematite rich ironstone, and lower to barren in the black massive vuggy ironstone. There are local areas of jasperoid rock barren of gold. There are no significant sulphides in this deposit. There is minor glassy quartz away from the ore zones. Numerous clay rich zones cut the cherty BIF with low gold values.
