A Au-Cu-Zn-Pb occurrence/prospect located in sec. 17, T29S, R39E,MDM, 2.6 km (1.6 miles) WNW of Garlock, along the E canyon wall of Mesquite Canyon near its mouth. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in andesite and limestone. The ore body strikes NW and dips NE. The principal mineralization is associated with iron-stained quartz in shears. It is sparse in a 200 foot wide belt parallel to the bedding planes of the schist. Controls for ore emplacement included shear zones and bedding plane shears. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 2 (Northern Mojave Desert and Southeastern Sierra Nevada).
Workings include surface and underground openings. These deposits have been prospected by numerous open cuts, shafts, crosscut adits and drift adits along the canyon.
