A former lode Au mine located in the N½SE¼ sec. 28, T12N, R10E, MDM, 1.5 km (0.9 mile/4,500 feet) ESE of Georgetown, on the divide between Slat Creek and Traverse Creek, SSW of Hotchkiss Hill (1 mile NW of Garden Valley). Property is 20.85 acres. Operated 1890 to 1900. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. Logan (1934), Pl. II shows 2 claims: the Esperanza and the Garden Valley.

Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in amphibolite. The ore body strikes N20W and dips 60E. The deposit is associated with a lens of amphibolite in slate. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains) and/or undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).

Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 182.88 meters and comprised of a 600 foot vertical shaft and 700 feet of drifts. A 20-stamp mill was erected.
