A Mn-silica deposit/prospect located in the SE¼NE¼NW¼ sec. 27, T6S, R5E, MDM, about 7.7 km N of Black Mountain (summit), along Adobe Canyon near its confluence with Del Puerto Canyon, on private land (fee ownership). Discovered in 1918. Owned by R.L. & L.D. Worrell (100%), San Jose, California (1975). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
NOTE: This locality was assigned a MAS/MILS file number in the Santa Clara County sequence; however, the additional data provided in the USGS MRDS database file places it in Stanislaus County.
The ore body strikes N20E and dips 60S at a thickness of 1 meter, width of 10 meters, and a length of 25 meters. Ore body No. 1 is sedimentary and lenticular. Ore body No. 2 is disseminated and irregular. Ore body No. 3 is a stockwork. The primary mode of origin was sedimentation. The secondary mode was oxidation. Primary ore control was lithology and the secondary control was bedding. There is no wallrock alteration. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 3 (Coast Ranges and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include unspecified surface openings.
