A former Mn mine located in the NW¼ sec. 14, T6S, R5E, MDM, 4.9 km (3.0 miles) N of Black Mountain, S of Adobe Canyon, along the Santa Clara County line. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
The ore body strikes SE and dips 50 to 65 NE at a width of 3.35 meters. Ore is exposed for 54 feet, with an average width of 6 feet and a maximum of 11 feet. The hanging wall is shaly chert, and the footwall is massive chert, which suggests the deposit may be overturned. A large mass of serpentine lies 100 yards to the W, and a small greenstone intrusion is between the ore body and the serpentine. The ore body and wallrocks are cut by numerous quartz veins. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 3 (Coast Ranges and Western Klamath Mountains) and/or rocks of the Franciscan melange.
Workings include unspecified underground openings.
Analytical data results: Ore grade is less than 25% Mn.
