Clino-suenoite from
Sterling Hill, Ogdensburg, Sussex County, New Jersey, USA

Locality type:Hill
Classification
Species:Clino-suenoite
Formula:◻Mn22+(Mg5)(Si8O22)(OH)2
Comments:The mineral reported as tirodite by Klein and Ito (1968), Hawthorne and Grundy (1973, 1977) and Dunn(1995) corresponds to a Zn-rich Mangano-cummingtonite. This is tha same material as Bauer and Berman (1930) and Palache (1935) called zinc-manganese-cummingtonite.

Analysis published by Dunn (1995), Klein and Ito (1968) and Deer et all (1997) show all show an amphibole with Mg dominance3 and variable Zn and Fe content in the C position and predominantly Mn and Mg in the B position of the amphibole molecule.
