About Bleischweif
Formula:
PbS
A variety of Galena
Old name for very fine-grained galena, usually caused by recrystallisation under tectonic stress. Older spelling is Bleyschweif.
"Bleischweif" occasionally appears in discrete ductile shear zones which have been reactivated after the main ore has crystallized and galena suffered grain-size reduction during deformation. Old coarse grains were flattened and tiny polygonal, undeformed new grains were formed corresponding to crystal-plastic flow and recrystallization.
Not to be confused with Bleispiegel.
