Katonto is a hill situated north-west of Kolwezi. It used to be a limestone quarry exploited to produce cement.
Some very fine turquoise crystals, similar to those of Lynch Station in Virginia, where found.
The locality is also known for its remarkable pseudomorphs of limonite after pyrite crystals, quartz crystals, and aragonite.
