Located 14 kilometres north-east of Coolgardie. Mungari Grey 1 is the older of the two, bordering the northern side of the Great Eastern Highway. It contains north north-west trending Mungari Monzogranite, fine grained, pale grey, with an even texture. The quarry was developed by Stone Industries of Australia across 1991 to 1994, before the leases were forfeited. The quarry was later partially backfilled, and rehabilitated.
Mungari Grey 2 is 3.5 kilometres north of 1, adjacent to the Kalgoorlie-Coolgardie high voltage power line. It was developed by Mungari Granite Pty Ltd in 1995 to 2002. It contains massive monzogranite up to 30 metres wide. The quarry was sold to Southpac Limited in 2003.
Map shows Mungari Grey 1. Neither are the same site as the emerald deposit.
A visit to site 1 in 2017, revealed little evidence of dimension stone mining.
