Woodsmith Project
The Woodsmith Mine is operated by AngloAmerican (2021) and mines a large deposit of polyhalite. It is estimated that the deposit may last for 100 years.
The polyhalite seam that is worked via underground mining has an average thickness of 25 metres and up to 70 metres in places. All mining is underground with little surface disturbance - largely restricted to operational buildings on what is known as "Doves Nest site".
The deposit is accessed from within the North York Moors National Park.
