A former small underground Au-Ag-Pb-Cu-Zn mine located in the NE¼ sec. 12, T20S, R27E, approximately 2,000 feet NE of the U.S. Mineral Monument No. 1, or a mile northeast of the Scribner, and about 1.5 miles north of Swisshelm Mountain, on BLM land. Produced 1918-1958. Owned by the Swisshelm Gold And Silver Mining Co. (Ben Heney)(1958). The claims for this property include the North Mammoth, the North Whale Nos. 1-4, the Little Tree, and the New Hillside. Directly north of the Mammoth and Whale Mine.

The Mammoth and Whale groups of claims were located in 1898. They were acquired in 1922 by the Swisshelm Development Co. The Swisshelm Mountain Gold and Silver Mining Co. acquired the claims in 1947. It is in the same overthrust block of Pennsylvanian Naco formation as the Mountain Queen and Chance Mines. Ore control was fault and fracture zones. Alteration was string oxidation. The beds strike northeasterly and dip about 30ºNW. Located on the upthrown side of a NW-trending fault.

Local structures include the Naco Group which strikes NW. NNW thrust faults in the Swisshelm Overthrust thrust the NAco Group over rhyolite porphyry.

Workings include an inclined shaft (30º), 300 feet deep and an adit on the 75 level with 575 feet of crosscuts and 425 feet of drifts plus an 80 foot deep vertical shaft which connects with an adit connecting to the shaft at the 40 foot level.
