A former Au mine located in sec. 23 & in the NW¼ sec. 24, T5N, R12E, MDM, 3.5 km (2.2 miles) ESE of Jesus Maria, N of Jesus Maria Creek, 5½ miles ESE of Mokelumne Hill. The property is comprised of 3 claims. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.

Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in schist, quartzite, and diorite. The ore body strikes N70E and dips 75E at a thickness of 1.52 meters. The white quartz vein is 2 to 5 feet thick in hydro-mica schist & quartzite, E of which is amphibolite schist & diorite. A system of fissures in the old lower workings strike N20E and dip 60W. The central portion of the vein extends over 2 spurs of the main ridge and has been bent to the E by the weight of the mountain, resulting in faulting of the vein, 40 feet to the NW, from torsion of the rocks. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).

Workings include underground openings with several old tunnels to 1,630 feet in length, and a 500 foot deep shaft. The best portion of the mine is at the N end.

Production data are found in: Clark, Wm. B. & P.A. Lydon (1962).

A small amount of Au was produced in 1916.
