A former lode Au mine located in the NE¼ (estimated) sec. 23, T4N, R13E, MDM, 1.5 km (0.9 mile) SSE of cave City, on the divide between O'Neil Creek and San Antonio Creek (2 miles SW of Sheep Ranch). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.

Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in mica schist. The ore body is pinch & swell in form, strikes N and dips 80E. The vein is 1 to 6 feet thick in the schist with talc. Sulfides are abundant. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).

Workings include underground openings comprised of 3 adits along the vein at 100, 180 & 300 feet long. The lower adit gives 600 feet of backs.

Production data are found in: Clark, Wm. B. & P.A. Lydon (1962).
