A W prospect/mine located in the NEΒΌ (estimated) sec. 22, and in secs. 23 & 26, T8S, R31E, MDM, 5.1 km (3.2 miles) N of Parchers Resort, along a tributary of the South Fork Bishop Creek, in the Sierra Nevada, on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in hornfels. The ore body is tabular. The surface is mantled with sand and soil. The outcrop of ore is only a few feet in diameter. Inclusion probably capped by granite with its dimensions increasing downward. Masses of scheelite occurred up to 6 inches (15 cm), or more in size. Associated rocks include granite. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Local geologic structures include numerous faults.
Workings include surface and underground openings with an overall depth of 42.67 meters. The open pit is 85 feet wide, 110 feet long and 45 feet deep. An inclined shaft was sunk 140 feet beneath the pit. There are 150 feet of workings on the 65 foot level.
Production data are found in: Lemmon, D.M., Tungsten deposits in the US; Vol. I, unpublished data: 222-224.
Comments on the production information: 107,000 tons of ore.
Analytical data results: Ore averaged 1.5% WO3.
