Zaida is a town, more precisely a rural commune, near at Al Bab, Tarba’t Sidi I’ich and Sidi I’ich, in Midelt Province, Drâa-Tafilalet, Morocco. Part of Khénifra Province before 2009.
According to the 2004 census it has a population of 9920 in 2062 households and an elevation of 1,503 meters.

Latitude: 32 ° 48 '9.2 "(32.8026 °) north
Longitude: 4 ° 52 '15.1 "(4.8709 °) west

The mining sector of Zaida is located in the upper Moulouya, about thirty kilometers west of Midelt, and exactly on the national road No. 13. We are there in a zone of basin border where arkoses and pelites Permo-Triassic rocks unconformably rest directly on granite and more or less metamorphic shales of the ancient massif of Aouli, which outcrops to the north.
These are continental formations more or less coarse or fine depending on the circumstances and some of which may even be sub-autochthonous because the arkoses resting on the granite contain exactly the same minerals, fresh and apparently little rolled, that this granite under- underlying. Thus, the crystallophyllian basement of Aouili, the triassic series, begins with a conglomerate of shale pebbles and on the granitic substratum by arkoses, arenites and feldspathic rudites. This first detrital detrital term of the trias can locally reach twenty meters of power but is frequently absent. In that case. The "pelites" that make up the next term are based directly on the base. These are poorly stratified argillites, with a remarkably monotonous red brick color (thesis of J.M. SCHMITT in 1976).

The study of Zaida's stratiform lead-bearing deposit shows that galena (PbS) and most of the cerusites (PbCO3) deposited late, at temperatures close to 100 ° C and in an extremely reducing atmosphere. the extent and characteristics of these deposits and the surrounding rocks lead to the conclusion that the ores formed in the mixing zone of deep water tables (hot, mineralized and rich in hydrocarbons) and of shallow groundwater (cold and oxidizing) , that is to say in the emergence zone (or "spillway") of these deep aquifers where the partial oxidation of hydrocarbons provided abundantly nascent hydrogen, the only one capable of reducing Fe3 + in Fe2 + rocks in these natural conditions and on a semi-regional scale.
