Olivenite from
Ingray Gill, Caldbeck, Allerdale, Cumbria, England, UK

Classification
Species:Olivenite
Formula:Cu2(AsO4)(OH)
Comments:Green et al. (2009): "There are two olivenite specimens in [Kingsbury's] main collection which are simply labelled ‘Ingray Gill’ with long, thin needle-like olivenite crystals, generally up to about 2-3 mm in length, but with the longest reaching 5 mm. The crystals form an intergrown mat within vugs in milky iron stained quartz. The specimens are very rich and resemble material from Wheal Unity and Wheal Gorland. They are certainly not from Ingray Gill or anywhere else in the Caldbeck Fells."
Habit:acicular
Colour:olive green
Confirmation
Validity:Unconfirmed/Questioned
