A former Cu-Pb-Ag-Zn-Au mine located in sec. 29, T11N, R8E, MDM, 1.7 km (1.0 mile) WNW of Flagstaff Hill (coordinates of record)(3 miles SW of Rattlesnake Bridge (section 19) and ½ mile E of the American River), on private (patented) land. Property consists of 140 acres of patented land. Operated by Ge. Darrington, et al and/or William Barklage. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated. This mine may be the workings shown in the SE¼ of USGS quadrangle Pilot Hill, California (1954).

Originally worked as an Au mine. Worked during the period 1900 to 1910 with little production. Some underground development took place in 1926. Some Cu-Zn ore was shipped from the dump in 1943 to 1944, and a test run of some dump material was made in 1948.

Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in the Josephine Ophiolite unit (mica schist, amphibolite). The ore body strikes N to NW and dips E at a width of 3.05 meters. A gossan capping is 100 feet wide. Granodiorite lies to the W of the deposit. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).

Workings include underground openings comprised of a 300 foot inclined shaft with 4 levels and a 118 foot adit.

Analytical data results: Reported $14 (period values) Au/ton.
