Name:
Named in 1872 by the the French mineralogist and chemist M. Felix Pisani as konsbergite, after the locality where the analyzed sample was found, one of the Kongsberg silver mines in Norway. Note the spelling. The name Kongsberg was erronously spelled as Konsberg in the publication. The name of the mineral was later corrected to kongsbergite.
