About Albitite
The term is mostly used for a high- to medium-temperature metasomatic rock dominated by albite, formed by the intense sodic alteration of various rocks. The definition by the IUGS is a granofels with albite as the only major (>75%) constituent (Fettes & Desmons, 2007).
Also used sometimes for a variety of alkali feldspar syenite consisting almost entirely of albite: more correctly termed Albite syenite.
Sometimes used for a granitic rock comprising mostly albite and quartz, but this is better termed an albite granite, classed under alkali-feldspar-granite in the QAPF system.
