Name:
Named in honor of Daniel J. Evanich (b. 1951), a long time field collector of Western U.S. minerals and a self-taught amateur mineralogist with a special interest in the mining history and minerals from Butte, Montana, and Tiger, Arizona. Dan is an active member of Bay Area Mineralogists (BAM) of Northern California having served as former Field Trip Coordinator for a period of more than 10 years. He is also an active member of both Mineralogical Society of Southern California (MSSC) and Northern California Mineralogical Association (NCMA). Daniel has kindly and generously donated or provided a number of samples to the RRUFF Project (http://rruff.info) for data collections and research, including the evanichite specimen.
