Hell's Basin Mine; Hells Basin Mine

A gold mine on the south side of Jackita Ridge. The deposit was discovered in 1895, and some bonanza-grade ore specimens running around several thousand ounces of gold per ton was found. The deposit turned out to be insignificant though, and production was limited. The geology is veins in argillite, conglomerate, and feldspathic sandstone of the Cretaceous Virginian Ridge Formation. It was developed by adits containing around 3000' of workings and a small mill.
