Road cut in The Straits Schist exposed several narrow (few dm wide), cross-cutting topaz-quartz-muscovite-fluorite veins similar to those exposed in nearby Old Mine Park and Old Mine Plaza. The veins generally lack the typical muscovite border zone of those localities and are nearly equal parts topaz and quartz and are much narrower crossing The Straits Schist than the amphibolite and marble below.
