A former lode Au-Pb occurrence/mine located in the NE¼ sec. 6, T10N, R11E, MDM, about 2.6 km NW of Placerville proper, E and N of Big Canyon. Property comprises 33.47 acres. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. Now part of the River Hill group.

Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in black slate. The ore body strikes N30W and dips 70E at a thickness of 12.19 meters. There are 2 parallel veins from 50 to 80 feet apart and from 10 to 40 feet thick. Quartz is interstratified with black slate. The ore contains 2 to 2½% sulfides. An adit run years ago on this claim was reported to have passed through a belt of black slate 97 feet wide at a depth of 250 feet. Thought to be an extension of the Chili Bar quarry. Not developed. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).

Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 91.44 meters and comprised of a 300 foot shaft with several levels and extensive drifting.
