A former lode Au-Ag-Zn-Pb mine located in the SW¼ sec. 25 & in the SE¼ sec. 26, T2S, R17E, MDM, 6.7 km (4.2 miles) ESE of Greeley Hill (town), along the North Fork Merced River (adjoins the Bondurant Mine on the NW), on private (patented) land in a National Forest area. Discovered in 1862. Property consists of 30 patented acres. Operated from 1866 to 1954. Operated by Sarah W. Treat C/O Mrs. Robert. Sherman MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. Workings may be those shown on USGS quadrangle Buckhorn Peak, California (1949).

Mineralization is a vein deposit with a vein from 2 to 15 feet thick, hosted in slate and mica schist (Calaveras Group). The ore body strikes N70W and dips 55NE at a thickness of 4.57 meters and a width of 1,066.8 meters. The best ore is concentrated in the 3 to 6 foot wide part of the vein nearest the footwall. Vein matter in the ore shoots consists of native gold, galena, sphalerite and pyrite. Pyrite is the most abundant sulfide. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).

Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 83.82 meters and comprised of 5 shafts of various depths, 2 tunnels on the NW portion of the claim plus an undetermined number of other adits on the SE portion of the claim.

Production data are found in: Bowen, O.E., Jr. & C.H. Gray, Jr. (1957).

There was some production in 1953. Complete production figures have not been recorded.

Analytical data results: $6 - $15 Au/ton (period values); 1½ to 2½% sulfides. Sulfide concentates assayed at $100 to $500/ton (period values).
