The Silbener-Mann-vein is a huge quartz vein, that crosses the Holtemme valley and forms imposing rocks at both slopes: The Silberner-Mann-rock to the east and the Bielstein-rock to the west.
A small adit with a length of less then 20 meters at the south of the Silberner-Mann-rock is buried since some decades and can not really be called as a mine. Nevertheless the "myth of the Silberne Mann" (silver man) is one of the most known German miner's legends.
The mineralization of the vein is scanty, and economically - even at earlier times - of no relevance at all. And so the miner in the legend was going away empty-handed at the end (because he was too greedy).
On the other hand the vein is interesting for geologists and mineral collectors concerning the occurrence of large quartz crystals (some with inclusions) and parisite. The calcite attracts attention by forming large foliate crystals.

In the vicinity (to the south) exists a contact-metamorphic mineralization with garnet, epidote, titanite, diopside etc.
