A former lode Au-Pb-Cu occurrence/mine located in secs. 12 & 13, T10N, R9E, MDM, 1.8 km (1.1 mile/6,100 feet) NNE of Rescue and 4ΒΌ miles N of Shingle Springs, on private land. Not operated between the 1890's and 1933. Subsequently, several concerns did total production given from personal communication. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in serpentinite, gabbro, amphibolite, schist and norite. The ore body strikes NW and dips 50E at a thickness of 6.1 meters. The main quartz vein is from a few inches to 20 feet thick in the West Gold Belt. Amphibolite schist country rock lies between gabbro-diorite to the W and serpentine to the E. The ore shoot is 500 feet wide. The quartz mass originally outcropped 25 feet in air, where several veins united. The Au is partially free and partially in sulfides. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of 2 drift adits, each 500 feet long, plus a 50 foot shaft (?) and a 818 foot inclined shaft.
Production data are found in: Clark and Carlson (1956).
