Minerals are found in alluvial sands along the bed of a rivulet, located near Fosse and crossed by the road connecting Passo Zovo to Monte Mucchione, and in the surrounding soils.


Zircon grains and crystals (usually ranging in size from a few millimetres to more than 2 cm) vary in colour from yellowish to red and brown. Some gems have been cut from the largest grains.

Corundum grains are rarely found and usually show an intense blue colour (var. sapphire).

Garnet group is represented by pink and deep red grains, that recent analyses have determined as almandine- and pyrope-rich garnets, respectively (Carraro et al., 2007).
