Ancient copper mining area, located near the Ulpen alp. The ore consisted almost entirely of chalcopyrite (in quartz and iron carbonate), with minor cobalt- and nickel-rich sulphides such as glaucodot, bravoite and Co-bearing arsenopyrite. Older references list cobaltite and linnaeite for this area, but these could not be confirmed during modern investigations.

The mineralisation, hosted in phyllonites, is concordant and considered syngenetic; later discordant crack/cleft fillings developed (Wenger, 1979).

Large dumps are still visible.
Wenger (1979) reports seven adits, two of which were accessible.
One adit is now a tourist mine ("Glückauf" mine, sublocality).
