The most important Zn-Pb-Ag orebody belonging to the Nakatatsu mine. Also minor producer of Cd and W. Cretaceous pyrometasomatic (skarn) in folded Permian limestone. Skarn is Mn-rich, even though host limestone contains only 0.06 to 0.08% MnO.
1958 production: 7,923 t Zn, 1,150 t Pb, 6,947 Kg Ag, from ore averaging 5.2% Zn, 0.8% Pb. (These figures may include some production from the related Senno (qv) and Hitokata deposits.)
In early 19th century, Nakayama deposit was called "Misaka Mine".
Misaka Mine and other mine (Senno Mine, Kurotani Mine, these are located in Senno and Minami-senno deposit) were merged to Nakatatsu Mine.
