The Ripley Exploration project was started in 1864 when the Arcadian Mining Company began exploring the southern extent of the lode that crossed their property. The company drilled an adit into the side of the hill that would connect the underground working. After the mine closed, the adit was not used until 1950 when the Arcadian Copper Mine Tour was opened and used the adit for taking tourists underground to experience a real copper mine. The tours lasted until the mid 1980s when it closed and the adit backfilled shut. Nothing remains at the site today.
