Williams notes mineralogy on the hill "above the parsonage" near a feldspar quarry. The parsonage was on the south side of Walkley Hill Road just opposite the chrysoberyl locality at the Cephus Brainerd house. Similar minerals occur there (see http://www.mindat.org/loc-213971.html). The land to the south of (back or above) the parsonage slopes steeply upward. No name can be found so far for the feldspar quarry. The bedrock geological map shows N-S trending pegmatites in Ordovician Middletown Formation metavolcanics underlying this area. Coordinates are for the small unnamed feldspar quarry, on private property.
Williams (1899): "On the hill back of the Feldspar quarry [chrysoberyl locality at C. Brainerd house] I have found Chrysoberyl, Beryl, Fahlunite, Molybdenite, and Garnets. About one hundred yards South in a Chlorite Schist, Tourmaline crystals occur."
Williams (circa 1945): "Chrysoberyl occurs on the hill south by west from the old locality [C. Brainerd house], distance about 1500 ft. Chrysoberyl, Garnet, Beryl, Molybdenite in a vein of Pegmatite very much like the old deposit, possibly an extension of the same vein...On the hill south of the Feldspar quarry, large doubly terminated black tourmaline in Chlorite, occur."
Davis (1901) apparently mentions the garnet crystals in this general area also: "About one-half mile southwest from the [Brainerd house chrysoberyl] deposit they occur very abundant in a mica schist. The crystals an seldom perfect, usually only half crystallized, but those faces that are shown are very brilliant and of a rich ruby red color."
