Quartz veins in gneiss and amphibolite on Monte Matto, an imposing mountain composed of four summits: Cima Est (3088 m), Cima Centrale (3097 m), Cima Bobba (3079 m), and Cima Verani (3020 m).

On the south slope of Monte Matto (Cougnè Gully), the gneissic and amphibolitic rocks embed sulphide veins, deeply oxidized and degraded, whose fragments are easily observable in the screes. The sulphide mineralisation consists of pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite, and pyrite. Graphite and ilmenite are present in the gangue.
