A former Cu-Au-Ag mine located in sec. 21 & 28, T34N, R3W, MDM, 2.0 km (6,600 feet) SSW of Bully Hill (summit) and 0.3 km (800 feet) SSW of Killanger Peak (coordinates of record), on National Forest land. Property consists of 4 claims. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in the Elkhorn Ridge Argillite (rhyolite). The ore body is lenticular and strikes NW with a vertical dip at 3.66 meters thick. Ore control was a series of vertical shear zones in the Buddy Hill Rhyolite. Shear zones cut the E limb of an anticline in the Buddy Hill Rhyolite. Much of the country rock is strongly silicified. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 5 (Northern Sierra Nevada and Eastern Klamath Mountains).
Local structures include a shear zone striking N20E.
Related tectonic structures include an island arc.
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 51.82 meters and a length of 304.8 meters. Principal work consisted of drifting at 3 levels (815, 936 and 1,060 feet in altitude along the Copper City shear zone). The Winthrop adit was stoped to surface.
Production was 119 tons of sulphide ore in 1926-1927.
Assay analyses results: ^8% Cu, $40/ton Au $20/ton Ag (1863).
