The Santa Barbara Mine is an underground mining complex belonging to Grupo Mexico, Mexico's largest mining company. The district includes a number of very large and continuous veins...some over 30m wide. At depth the vein zone is surrounded by mineralized garnet-pyroxene skarn that is not normally mined unless very high grade.
It is remarkable that a mine of this importance produces so few specimens, and most of the ones that get out are quartz, calcite and fluorite groups
