Cava Pietraborga, Trana, Val Sangone, Torino, Piemonte, Italia
Serpentinite and serpentine schist quarry at the northern foot of Monte Pietraborga.
Some rodingite bodies, consisting of main garnet and epidote with chlorite and diopside as accessory minerals, are observable in the quarry area.
Greenish-yellow titanite crystals, up to 15 mm long and 12 mm wide, in association with apatite nodules, epidote veinlets, and small pyrite crystals were found in chlorite schist near its contact with a greenschist facies metabasite (prasinite).
Recent analyses showed that a black mineral, formerly classified by collectors as geikielite, is ilmenite (Piccoli et al. 2007).
