Old asbestos mine on the left bank of Scerscen brook, at an elevation of about 2040 m on the southern slope of Monte delle Forbici, to the north of Alpe Campascio.
Some minerals, such as andradite var. demantoid and magnetite, are typical of the asbestos-rich serpentinite fissures. Aragonite crystals and probable prehnite (Gramaccioli, 1962) have been found in narrow fissures at the mine and neighbour outcrops of serpentinite. Brucite, as tabular crystals and lamellar or mammillary aggregates, is often associated with aragonite; red-brown coalingite crystals on asbestos have also been recovered (Bedognè et al., 1993).
Emerald-green crystals of Cr-bearing andradite (formerly classified as "uvarovite") have been found in a chromitite lens, located not far from the main mining works (Tabacchi, 1972; Bedognè et al., 1993; Sciesa, 1993).
