The Talga Talga Goldfield is about 30 kilometres north of Marble Bar, and west of the Port Hedland-Marble Bar Road. It was mainly an alluvial field with many large nuggets found from the goldfield's discovery in 1894 to 1910. Most of the gold was found in gullies below the McPhees Reward and adjacent Day Dawn leases.

Talga Talga was discovered in 1894 by the McPhee brothers, Charles, Rory and Angus, and they were awarded a reward lease (known as McPhees Reward). The greatest activity on the goldfield was in 1896. However the goldfield soon declined as only limited reef gold was found. The McPhees Reward Gold Mining Company was unable to find payable stone, the battery closing in 1897.

By 1903, only three men are reported on the field, dryblowing and making tucker money. To that point the field had produced 1928.63 ounces of gold from 830.55 tonnes of ore from the pegged leases. There was an unknown amount of alluvial, although thought to be large, with 1000 ounces of large nuggets claimed to 1903. Occasional large slugs continued to be reported, with a minor alluvial rush in 1907 in a fresh patch about a quarter of a mile from the old workings.

Little remains other than some minor pits, in a south-west to north-east trending creek, which crosses the Marble Bar Road and enters the Talga River. There is also some minor bulldozing work in the hills above, at the McPhees Reward site.
