Ancient lead mine, working a lead, zinc and copper bearing vein of the so-called Wellmich-Werlau vein system.
This mine was the most important mine in the Werlau-Wellmich mining district. The workings on both sides of the Rhine valley were connected by a tunnel driven below the river. The dumps are now completely removed.

Located near Werlau, about 3.5 km west of St Goar.
