A former Ag mine located in secs. 8 & 9, T6S, R19E, MDM, 5.1 km (3.2 miles) SSW of Bootjack and about 6 miles SE of Mariposa, in the headwaters area of Blade Creek, on the Wallman Ranch. Property consisted of 4 claims. Operated by the Jeffery Investment Co. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. NOTE: There is a prospect shown near (100 feet from the line) the EΒΌ corner of sec. 8 on the Mariposa quadrangle topo map (1948), which is probably the location of this mine. 17th Report of the State Mineralogist: 138 (shows location in sec. 20, T5S, R19E).
Ore exposed on the dump shows galena, pyrite, arsenopyrite and acanthite. Proustite, pyrargyrite, native silver and native gold are also reported in the ore from the mine. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings comprised of an inclined shaft, a drift adit. Drifting was 2 levels and aggregated 828 feet. Workings partly caved in September, 1954.
Worked in a small way prior to 1927. A small production was recorded for the years 1909, 1920 and 1921. A small production was realized in 1930, most of the Ag production being in that year.
In 1939 ore was said to average 15 to 20 ounces of Ag and 0.15 ounces Au per ton. The tonnage of ore mined or blocked out at that time was about 4,000 tons.
