Tom Elliott was a prospector in the 1890's in Western Australia, who was involved in the early days of the Great Fingal Mine and others.

He pegged a lease in the southern section of the Mulwarrie line of lode in 1895, shortly after its discovery. He then formed the Tom Elliott Mount Higgins Proprietary in Adelaide. Elliott immediately left for England to try and have an English firm purchase the property. The London Purchasing Syndicate put down a 1000 pound deposit, and sent a Mr. De Mole out to inspect the property. His subsequent report was completely at odds with the mine manager's J. Stephenson glowing report. The London syndicate withdrew from the purchase.

A difficult shareholder meeting ensued when it came to light, Elliott had sent letters to the chairman stating the deposit was not as good as he first thought. The shareholders then asked why they had been encouraged to invest money by the chairman, when he had withheld this information. Tom Elliott failed to appear at the meeting, despite his name attached to the syndicate, and several requests made he attend.
There was a suggestion of reconstructing the syndicate, with the investment of more money to work the deposit themselves. However by 1897, it was placed into voluntary liquidation.

Just after 1900, crushings were being sent through by Ducrow and sons until at least 1904, possibly later but crushing reports appear to dry up. In 1908, a crushing is reported of 143 tonnes 80 ounces, and then later in the year the lease is up for sale. Tributors put through crushings in 1909.

In 1912, William Rowe, William Mark Lewis, and James Antony Doherty apply for the lease (GML 947U), and some crushings go through by them later in the year.

It is reported in 1918, the mine had produced 560 tonnes of ore for 807 ounces of gold.

In February 1920, Joseph William Clark and Edward Taylor apply for the lease. 24 acres. GML 992U. They erect a small plant and begin mining and processing ore, which continues over several years.

The Ularring Westralia Gold Mining Company was formed in 1920 to work the deposit under option. It was promoted by F.L. Sweetman, of the Westralia Stock and Trading Company. A small crushing was treated later in 1920 at the Great Boulder Perseverance mine at Kalgoorlie. They abandoned the option, and Taylor continues small scale mining.

Edward Taylor applies for the lease in his own name in 1924. GML 996U. 24 acres.

In 1931, this was one of the leases taken up by option by the Adelaide based Empire Extended Company from Edward Taylor. After much publicity,
appointing local prospector Charles Martin as mine manager, some development work, and a trial crushing, they abandoned the option.

In 1933, M.K. Bunker and J.H. Thiele applied for a licence to treat the sands at the mine. William Roos in 1934, GML 1014U, also applies to treat 200 tonnes of sands at the mine. He states he is the owner of the lease P.A. 634U, being the neighbouring Ularring Westralia mine.

The mine had produced 1691 tonnes of ore for 1433 ounces of gold.

There are two parallel lines of reef. The western Reef is broken and irregular, especially in the upper levels. It was worked for a length of 150 feet and down to 75 feet. There are two shoots of gold in the reef, one dipping steeply north, the other east. The reef contained several shafts.

The eastern reef was smaller at 18 inches to 2 feet wide, but more regular, and better defined walls. It was worked for a length of 120 feet and down to 65 feet. The lode dips steeply south. The country rock is fine grained greenstone, hard and compact below 60 feet. It carries considerable pyrites in the quartz at the lower levels, with good gold values. The reefs are intruded by several small granite dykes, which do not effect the reefs.
