Arsenopyrite from
Carrock Mine, Mungrisdale, Eden, Cumbria, England, UK

Locality type:Mine
Classification
Species:Arsenopyrite
Formula:FeAsS
Comments:Cooper & Stanley (1990): "Abundant in the tungsten veins, particularly the Smith and Wilson veins, with wolframite, scheelite, and other sulphides, in crystals to several centimetres across. Idiomorphic crystals are common (up to 45mm), but usually partly overgrown by later minerals. Where the enclosing matrix is calcite excellent groups of lustrous striated arsenopyrite crystals have been exposed by dissolving the calcite in acid (R.W. Barstow, G. Wilson, pers. comm.)."
