Michalovy Hory is a village, part of the town Chodová Planá in the district Tachov. It is located about 4 km east of Chodová Planá. Road II / 198 passes here.

Michalovy Hory is also the name of a cadastral area with an area of 1.82 km².

The Michalovy Hory mining district lies among the villages Dolní Kramolín, Chodová Planá, Výškov and Michalovy Hory.

The region of Michalovy Hory lies in the western part of the Neoproterozoic of the Teplá-Barrandian Unit and is interpreted as a relic of the Cadomian orogenic belt.

The first mining in the area took place as early as 1100. Well documented is the most prosperous era in the 16th and 17th century (silver mining). Mines were founded in 1542 by count Šlik. The mine Das alte Glück mit Freunden was active 1542 - 1590 and mined silver that was supplied to Šlik mint works in Jachymov. Mining was stopped due to the Thirty Years War in the 17th century.
At the beginning of the 18th century, some mines for copper and silver were rebuilt but without great success (mine Neu Glück mit Freunden). The mined ore was sphalerite, argentite, galenite. In 1750 the mining was stopped again. In the 19th century mines were again worked for nickel, cobalt and lead, but again stopped due to poor results in 1887. In the beginning of the 20th century up to 1925, mining was restarted unsuccessfully. The last material mined was baryte from 1937 to 1939. The last mineral exploration in the region (1958 - 1959) did not lead to a working phase.
