Orosei (Sardinian: Orosèi) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Nuoro, in the historical subregion of Baronie.
The town of Orosei, located at the foot of a plateau in the floodplain of the River Cedrino, is topped by remnants of a black basaltic lava flow at the contact with Mesozoic carbonate sediments.
The municipal territory is characterised by the presence of Pliocene alkaline and tholeiitic lavas which overlies Paleozoic basement and Mesozoic limestones and dolostones.
