United Silver Copper Mine
A large copper-silver mine NE of Chewelah on Eagle Mountain. For a time this was the largest and most consistently producing metal mine in the state. The ore occurred as multiple quartz veins in fractured argillite of the Wallace formation near a fault contact with the Edna Dolomite. Development consisted of a main adit 4200' long with considerable drifting and stoping on multiple levels above and below it. It produced ore mainly from 1906-1921, with additional work being done intermittently from 1921-1925, 1928-1931, and 1955-1957. From all of this 10,500,000 lbs Cu, 1,700,000 oz Ag, and 1,400 oz gold were produced
