Fayette County is a county in southwest Ohio. It was founded on March 1, 1810 and named after Gilbert du Motier, the Marquis de La Fayette (1757-1834), a French military officer and aristocrat who participated in both the American and the French Revolutions. The county seat is Washington Court House.
