The Ag-Hg-Cu Zgounder polymetallic ore deposit, epithermal mineralization of the Imiter type consists of mineralized pockets (quartz-calcite veinlets) in sedimentary rocks and diabase of the Middle-Precambrian volcano sedimentary Sirwa Formations.

Zgounder Silver Mine is a suspended underground mine, workings are at least down to 2,100 foot level, operated-owned by Harwanne SA.

The mine is located approximately 15 km northeast of Askaoun near Jebel Siroua (Mt Siroua), an ancient volcanic massif, and about 200 km east of Agadir.
