The mine (located at Visnes) was operated between 1866 and 1894. By 1895 the mine had been excavated to a depth of 732 m under the sea level, and a total of 1,4 million tonnes of copper ore were extracted. It is located about 800m from the Rødklev mine. The mine is now protected under Norwegian law as a historical site.
