A former located in the SE¼ of sec. 30, T3N, R13E, MDM, 1.7 km (1.1 mile) WSW of Altaville and 2 miles W of Angels Camp (¼ mile NE of Negro Hill). Operated intermittently during the periods 1850 to 1880, and 1929 to 1935. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 to 1,000 meters (2 MRDS files).

Mineralization is hosted in slate and schist. The ore body strikes N42-55W and dips 72NE at a thickness of 3.66 meters. There are at least 4 parallel veins in a zone 75 feet wide, and with vein widths from 4 to 12. Some of the country rock contains disseminated pyrite. The footwall is amphibolite schist and the hanging wall is black slate and phyllite. The veins contain quartz, calcite and amphibolite schist. There are 2 systems of stringers of vein, one parallel to the schistosity, and the other almost perpendicular. The mine is on the western mineralized zone of amphibolite schist of the mother lode. Local rocks include undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).

Workings include surface and underground openings with an overall depth of 106.68 meters. The deposit was worked on surface to a depth of 180 feet during the period to 1880. The main shaft is 350 feet. An inclined shaft on the westernmost vein has levels at 70, 150 and 350 feet. The older shafts are 101 feet to the N and 164 feet to the S. Several crosscuts connect the shafts with numerous drifts and stopes.

Ore during the 1930's averaged $10 to $14 (period values) per ton.
