Eureka Mine

Several shallow prospect pits adjacent to Hurricane Creek near the Columbia Mine. Ore is in a bedding replacement deposit associated with a major fault block. Mineralization is dominated by fluorite - sphalerite - quartz. This area was dug in the 1940s. Main shaft was filled in, although an unknown shaft was opened in autumn, 2005 by the land owner. Collecting on the property is not permitted without permission from the owner, and this site is off-limits until the shaft is securely filled.
