Liechtenstein
A small state in Europe, located in the upper Rhine valley, bordering Switzerland to the west and Austria (Vorarlberg) to the east.
Liechtenstein, officially the Principality of Liechtenstein, is divided into eleven municipalities: Vaduz (the capital), Balzers, Escher, Gamprin, Mauren, Planken, Ruggell, Schaan, Schellenberg, Triesen, and Triesenberg.
Around half of Liechtenstein's surface area is mountainous, with the highest elevation above sea level corresponding with the summit of Grauspitz (2599 m). Rocks have almost exclusively a sedimentary origin. The peaks in the mountainous areas are part of the Rätikon range (Limestone Alps), while the Eschnerberg (also known as Schellenberg), a range of hills in the north of Liechtenstein, is part of the Helvetic zone.
